Why is there separate billing for my CMS subscription and other custom work?
Question
I already gave you my credit card when I signed up for my CMS account. Why am I still receiving invoices that say I owe money?
Answer
If you are a CMS client you are billed on a monthly basis for your website (hosting, licensing and customer support costs). Since this is recurring billing, we have automated these payments by charging your credit card, so you don't have to pay an invoice manually every month. However, if you have hired us to do custom work, e.g. print design, web design or other custom work, then at the end of every month, we tally up the total hours worked on your behalf and we send you an invoice for this custom work. This type of work is not recurring, so there is no need to automate these payments. They simply require one check to be sent to our accountant.
So as a rule, we do not automatically charge your credit card for custom work. We want you to review the invoice and make sure you agree to the charges. If you receive an invoice in the mail, it means you still need to pay that invoice (unless it is a statement with a zero balance). Recently we have instituted a new policy which allows you to pay these invoices by credit card if you prefer that method. You can return the payment stub with your credit card information and mark this preference. Then we will be sure to bill your credit card for all future work.
