Matching Print Colors to Web Colors
Question
Will My Branding Materials Match the Colors on My Web Site?
Answer
Not exactly. Every computer screen varies a little in color and value (darkness/lightness). PCs tend to be darker and more burnt looking than Macs. Chances are pretty good that what we're seeing on our screens when we look at your web site is slightly different from what you are seeing. So we would need to see your screen to know what color you are looking for on your business cards and letterhead. When we design your print files, we use swatches that predict what your projects will look like on press. And we aim to get close to what we see on screen and to get a combination we know will look good on press. But it's an educated guess. We have a good idea but it's never exact. If you feel really strongly about what color you want to see on your branding materials, you should go in to your local printers office and ask to see PMS swatches or process swatches so that you can pick out your colors with some certainty. You can always pass that information on to us and we'll be happy to set up your files accordingly.
